WHAT IS A TRAINEESHIP

When we’re at school, we’re always taught that we pass our exams, go into sixth form and then go to university. But what if you don’t want to go to uni? Traineeships are for 16-24 year olds or 25 year olds with an EHCP, qualified below Level 3. The tuition is free and is designed to give you the support you need while you get your qualifications and find a job.

The programme lasts for up to six months and involves one study day a week plus a minimum two days of work experience, so even if you find classroom learning a challenge, you still get the chance to actually do the job. You’ll get lots of support throughout and can start working towards your career goals.
 
You get maths and English tuition alongside CV and interview skills and will gain an employability qualification and Functional skills English and Maths at the end.
 
So if you have recently left school, college or employment and haven’t had the chance to gain the experience or skills needed to find one, a traineeship is just what you need.

Whether you’re interested in childcare, hair & beauty, graphic design or business admin, there’s a traineeship for everyone. Employers love people who can learn and by putting yourself through the program, you’re showing them that you’ve got what it takes to hit the ground running. Education gives you options and a traineeship is a great place to start.

NEXT STEPS

Once you’ve completed your traineeship you’ll be in a great position to progress on to a job and/or begin an apprenticeship or start a course at college – most of our learners land a job as an apprentice with their work placement. Whether you want to continue with another qualification, move into management or even start your own business, the choice is up to you.
